No other form of education would have steered me to where I am right now.
Currently, I work as both the National Artist for Yves Saint Laurent and the National Artist for Giorgio Armani. Prior to this, I worked for 3 years in the head-office for M.A.C Cosmetics as their Events Artist. Prior to that, I worked across the country at various M.A.C counters, including their flagship ‘M.A.C PRO’ store in Britomart, Auckland. I’ve worked for many consecutive years at New Zealand Fashion Week, directing large teams of makeup artists backstage, and under the direction of other hard-working makeup directors.
I’ve worked with New Zealand’s most prolific and successful fashion designers, on their seasonal collection campaigns, look-books, and in-season shows. I’ve worked with international celebrities and musicians including Lorde, Troye Sivan, Fifth Harmony, Billie Eilish, Pale Waves, The 1975, Grimes, Astrid S and Leon Bridges, to name a few. I have editorials, beauty stories, interviews, Q&A’s and campaigns in both print and digital magazines. Some of which include Black, Remix, Denizen, Fashion Quarterly, Together Journal, Mindfood, and Vogue Italia. Always enjoying education and imparting knowledge, I went full-circle for a while, and tutored at a makeup school myself. I make up only a tiny piece of a much larger community of artists. We support one another, work hard, and enjoy the rewards.
Why should you enrol in KSSM over other schools and educational institutions? Their tutors are the best. They are experienced, professional, honest, and have up-to-date industry experience and real industry connections. You will be taught absolutely everything that you need to know, and nothing that you don’t. Good attitude and work ethic will determine a Makeup Artist’s success, never raw talent alone. Where other schools in the South Island can fail to teach the importance of these attributes, KSSM tutors install it with force.
Thank you Kristen, for believing in me from the start, and for proving me with the industry advice, attitude and confidence that I needed to go out on my own. The KSSM Diploma of Makeup Artistry taught me everything that I needed to know to get started, but more importantly, it exposed me to the idea of a world much larger than I knew at the time.
